This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.

YOUR ONLY GENERAL ENTRANCE is on the back side of the building. (For security reasons, this building is usually locked.) Please follow the parking lot to the back of the building. The Entrance Door is marked with a sign that posts our opening hours. Please ring bell for entrance, and we will come at once to let you in.
A HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE is in the front of the building. Please call us on your cell or smart phone, so we can come and open that entrance door for you.

Tuesday: 10:00am-2:00pm AND FIRST TUESDAY EVENING OF THE MONTH from 6pm - 9 pm
Wednesday: 6:00pm -9:00pm
Thursday: 10:00 am- 2:00pm AND 6:00pm-9:00pm
Saturday: 10:00 am-2:00pm

CURRENT HOLIDAY CLOSINGS:

Closed all major holidays
Closed from Wednesday before Thanksgiving until the next Tuesday
Closed the last two weeks of December, until our first scheduled shift in the new year.

Other Closings:

Closed when our local Norwood School is closed for any weather emergencies.

We occasionally close unexpectedly because of inclement weather or illness: Please call for information about unexpected alterations to our normal operation hours.

Calendar and Events

Our Portal access has re-opened after upgrades and revisions. One additional feature now is a historical Newspaper access. But you do have to be in a FamilySearch Center to have access to these Portals.

Class schedule: a once a month ZOOM Beginner Genealogy Class will re-start the fourth Thursday in January 2024. This class will be held at the Pleasant Ridge Branch library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. This ten-month class will be taught by our director, Doris Ludwick, with the possibility of occasional guest speakers for different topics. The class will be a live audience class, as well as being a ZOOM class, and it will be archived. LIVE TIME: 6:30 - 7:30 PM, on the fourth Tuesdays of every month. With the exceptions of November and December.

A SUNDAY FAMILY HISTORY CLASS is also being planned for, at present. Please check back for further developments.

FAMILY HOME EVENING EVENTS can also be arranged for Monday evenings, by appointment

Staff Training Meetings

Two Dinner Meetings are generally held every year: one in the Spring and one in late fall. These are attended by invitation only.

Center Services

YOU CAN WORK ON YOUR PC IN BUILDING, OR EVEN IN THE PARKING LOT, IN YOUR CAR, THROUGH WIFI. If you'd like to explore this option, please call us for more details.

We have a volunteer who can help with Italian records, and another volunteer who can help with German records, by appointment. Please call for information if you are interested.

Center Resources

Reference books that hold collections of local church records, and collections of births and deaths and marriages, mostly in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Collections

Marjorie Dickory Collection; other smaller donated collections of books and documents; approximately 3000 indexed microfilms on various subjects. We also offer free access to 80% - 90% of the FamilySearch online archives. Many of these resources can only be accessed "under the umbrella" of our sponsors by coming to a FamilySearch Center.

Extensive collection of Hamilton County, Ohio and German microfilms are on permanent loan. We also include a large number of other areas in our microfilm collection, although not as extensively. These include microfilms for Italy, Indiana and Kentucky, and the United Kingdom, among other locations.

FamilySearch Center Portal: This Center also has access to the FamilySearch Center Portal page, which gives our patrons free access, WHILE PRESENT IN THE CENTER, to several premium family history software and websites that generally charge for their services. While you are in the Center, you are considered to be "under the umbrella". And as such, you will be able to access our Portal research helps free of charge.

Hardware and Equipment

Eight computers, four microfilm readers, one microfiche reader, and two printers and copy machines.

Staff Research Specialties

Consultants with advanced and practical knowledge, who offer their services free of charge.

Italian records consultant by appointment only.

German-speaking document-translator can be available in person or on call, on our fourth and fifth Thursday nights - please call to confirm.

Volunteer at the Center

Our services are free and all of our staff are volunteer consultants and assistants.
