Many Welsh place names are made up of several elements.
Literally translated the name Rhosllannerchrugog comes from:
- rhos "moor"
- llannerch "glade"
- grugog "heathery"
hence Moor of the Heathery Glade. Unsurprisingly it is often known simply as Rhos!
