The Danish Estate Records[edit | edit source]
On 20 December 2012, FamilySearch uploaded over 2.5 million records created by the estates of Denmark! These records include probates, farm contracts, tax records, and much more! Unfortunately, the records were uploaded without a way of understanding which estate a researcher should look in to find their ancestors.
The Project Goal: The finished project will allow researchers to better decide which estate an ancestor would have belonged to. This goal will be accomplished by creating wiki pages of each estate. The pages will list the properties that belong to the estate, along with a brief history of the estate (if available), and information of/links to available records.
To learn more about the record type see the article, Denmark, Estate Records - FamilySearch Historical Records.
You do NOT need to know Danish in order to do the project, though it is helpful |
Project Instructions[edit | edit source]
We welcome any and all who are interested in helping make the estate records easier to use. You can help as little or as much as you would like.
To get started[edit | edit source]
- Go to the Talk tab at the top of this page and leave your wiki user name and a little information about any specific area of Denmark (i.e. an estate, a parish, a county, etc.) you would be particularly interested in helping with, as well as any other information about you that could be helpful (how much time you can devote to the project, language abilities, etc.).
- After posting in the Talk tab, we will contact you (using your user talk), and give you a project assignment.
- Use the following PDF file for specific instructions of how to do the project
- When you have finished the assignment, let us know through the Talk tab on this page. Also, let us know if you would like another project assignment, and we will give you another assignment!
To learn more about Talk pages and user talk, see the articles Help:Talk Pages and Help:User Page |
