You also may not be sure of your own ancestor’s name if they were known by a nickname or changed their name from the original birth record name. Your ancestor may have used different names or variations of their name throughout their life and may be listed in records with any of those variations.

This collection of mixed records from the city archives of Dresden, Saxony, Germany covers the inclusive years of about 1820 to 1962 and are arranged alphabetically. Documents include citizen's oaths, birth documents, identity certificates, residency documents, passports, occupation licenses, etc. Original records are located in the Stadtarchiv Landeshauptstadt Dresden, Saxony, Germany.

Most of the records are handwritten in narrative style and, in later years, in formatted forms. For help reading these, see Germany Handwriting. This collection may include records such as:
