The 57th Regiment, New York Infantry was organized at New York City August 12 to November 19, 1861. It left the State for Washington, D. C., November 19, 1861. The regiment attached to French's 3rd Brigade, Sumner's Division, Army of the Potomac, to March, 1862, 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, to June, 1864. Then it consolidated Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, to November, 1864. The 58th Regiment, New York Infantry Organized at New York City August to November, 1861. It was assigned at various times to various places and commands. The regiment mustered out October 1, 1865.[1]
