Great News October 8 – Black Family History Day: The Oakland CA Family History Center is pleased to join with the African American Genealogical Society of Northern California in hosting "Black Family History Day" on October 8th from 2 – 5 p.m. Learn about Black History from your ancestors perspective - Receive one-on-one assistance for FREE - Bring a family member to share the experience - Make it possible for future generations to know where they came from. November 13 – Jewish Family History Open House: The Family History Center is delighted to be joining with the San Francisco Bay Area Jewish Genealogical Society in celebration of Jewish Family History Month by hosting an open house on November 13 from 1 – 5 p.m. Experienced researchers will be on hand to assist beginners through advanced researchers in Jewish genealogy. Local researcher and author Ron Arons will present "Putting the Flesh on the Bones: Researching Why Our Ancestors Did What They Did." Bring your documents (copies only, no originals, please) and questions. The goal is for each attendee to find the answer to at least one question about his or her family history.
