Thoroton was orignially formed as a chapelry of Orston, Nottinghamshire Ancient Parish.
The history of the church has been researched by the Southwell and Nottingham Church History Project Thoroton St Helena
The Parish Church of St Helena has been designated a grade I listed building British listed building
