2nd Battalion, North Carolina Infantry was formed at Garysburg, North Carolina, during the fall of 1861. It surrendered with 3 officers and 49 men.[1]
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
Company A - principally from Stokes County
Company B - principally from Surry County
Company C - principally from Richmond, Virginia
Company D - principally from Richmond, Virginia
Co.mpany E - principally from Meriwether, Gorgia
Company F - principally from Raldolph County
Company G - principally from Forsythe County
