Description[edit | edit source]

Arabic is the official language of Qatar, and the local Qatari Arabic or Gulf Arabic dialect is spoken as a mother tongue by native Qataris. Qatari Sign Language is the language of the deaf community. English is widely spoken as a second language and is a rising lingua franca in commerce, the medical community, and amongst expatriates.
