Iran is a country in the Middle East bordered by Türkiye, Iraq, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Historically known as Persia, it has maintained its sovereignty despite significant foreign influence from Great Britain and Russia in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The official language is Persian (Farsi), with other languages like Azerbaijani, Kurdish, and Arabic also spoken.
