Brief History[edit | edit source]
This unit was organized at Indianapolis, Indiana, and mustered in September 13, 1861 after the 7th Regiment, Indiana Infantry (3 months) was mustered out in August. The non-veterans mustered out September 20, 1864. The veterans and recruits transferred to 19th Indiana Infantry September 23, 1864.[1]
