The 3rd Regiment, Connecticut Infantry was organized at New Haven.&nbsp; They mustered in May 14, 1861.&nbsp; On the 12th day of August, 1864&nbsp;this regiment was mustered out of service at Hartford. <ref>National Park Service, [http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System], (accessed 6 December 2010.</ref>

Infantry Company B&nbsp;was largely formed by men from [[New Haven County, Connecticut|New Haven County]].&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Infantry Company C was largely formed by men from&nbsp;[[Fairfield County, Connecticut|Fairfield County]].&nbsp;

Infantry Company D was largely formed by men from&nbsp;[[Fairfield County, Connecticut|Fairfield County]].&nbsp;

Rifle Company A&nbsp;was largely formed by men from [[Hartford County, Connecticut|Hartford County]].&nbsp;

Rifle Company B&nbsp;was largely formed by men from [[New Haven County, Connecticut|New Haven County]].&nbsp;
