Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 15th Regiment Connecticut Infantry was organized at New Haven, Connecticut and mustered in August 25, 1862. This regiment was mustered out June 27, 1865 and discharged at New Haven July 12, 1865.[1]

For more information on the 15th Regiment Infantry and its history, see:

Companies in this Regiment[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived, though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. If you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first. This regiment, with Companies A - K, was composed of men from all parts of Connecticut, but the majority of men in each unit resided in New Haven County.
