The Camp Verde Yavapai-Apache Indian Reservation is in central Arizona's Verde Valley. The reservation is populated by the Yavapai and Tonto Apache Indian Tribes, inhabitants of this area for centuries. President U. S. Grant established the reservation in 1871, but abandoned it in 1875 and its people were moved against their will to the San Carlos Apache Reservation. A migration back to their traditional homeland began immediately after 1900. A reservation area was re-established in 1909 and additional lands acquired over the years. The Camp Verde Yavapai-Apache Indian Reservation is in central Arizona's Verde Valley. The reservation is populated by the Yavapai and Tonto Apache Indian Tribes, inhabitants of this area for centuries. President U. S.
