Liverpool emerged as a major international port in the seventeenth century. It was not until 1890 that outbound passengers lists were officially kept. The England Emigration and Immigration article provides further details about these records.

Examples of earlier emigration lists include:

  • French, Elizabeth. "List of Emigrants to America from Liverpool, 1697-1707," The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol. 64 (1910); Vol. 65 (1911). Digital version at Internet Archive - free.

Records of transported convicts sent to America and Australia in the 1700s and 1800s are also available.
