Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 64th Regiment, Ohio Infantry mustered in November 9, 1861 at Camp Buckingham, Mansfield, Ohio. They were mustered out December 3, 1865 in Texas. ^[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company C - Many men from Richland County.
Company D - Many men from Marion County.
Company E - Many men from Ashland & Crawford Counties.
Company F - Many men from Van Wert County.
Company G - Many men from Clark & Summit Counties.
Company H - Many men from Richland County.
Company I - Many men from Stark & Wayne Counties.
Company K - Many men from Crawford County.
