Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 60th Regiment, Ohio Infantry mustered in February to April, 1864 at Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio. They were mustered out July 28, 1865 at Washington, District of Columbia. ^[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Companies by County:

Three Year's Service 1864-1865

Company A - Many men from Franklin County.
Company B - Many men from Wayne County.
Company C - Many men from Ashtabula and Greene Counties.
Company D - Many men from Belmont and Ross Counties.
Company E - Many men from Morgan and Tuscarawas Counties.
Company F - Many men from Clinton and Meigs Counties.
Company G - Many men from Cuyahoga and Guernsey Counties.
Company H - Many men from Cuyahoga and Henry Counties.
Company I - Many men from Hamilton, Mercer and Montgomery Counties.
Company K - Many men from Hamilton County.
