Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 14th Regiment, Ohio Infantry mustered in August 14-September 5, 1861 at Toledo, Ohio. They were mustered out July 11, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky. ^[1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company C - Many men from Lucas County.
Company D - Many men from Henry and Lucas Counties.
Company E - Many men from Defiance and Lucas Counties.
Company F - Many men from Henry, Lucas and Paulding Counties.
Company G - Many men from Lucas and Paulding Counties.
Company H - Many men from Lucas and Seneca Counties.
Company I - Many men from Waterville, Lucas County.
Company K - Many men from Putnam County.
