| 1st Cavalry Regiment was assembled in November, 1861, at Montgomery, Alabama. Its companies were raised in the counties of Montgomery, Morgan, Dale, Tallapoosa, Calhoun, Pike, Autauga, Monroe, Butler, and Mobile.
