Research use: Provides linking information for family relationships.

Record type: Wills, inventories, distribution of estates.

Time Period: 1642-present.

Content: Names of individuals, their parents, children and grandchildren, dates, relationships, sometimes places of events, race, civil status.

Location: National Archives, local courts.

Population coverage: 10%.

Reliability: Good.[1]

Guardianship records (Akte wali)[edit | edit source]

Research use: Valuable in cases of death or divorce of parents with minor children.

Record type: Orphan’s chamber records of guardianship dispositions, orphans, adoption records, legitimations and decisions.

Time Period: 1700-present.

Content: Names of children, guardians, parents, ages, dates of birth, residence, legal acknowlegements.

Location: National Archives, municipal archives.

Population coverage: 5%.

Reliability: Good.[1]
