1 audio cassette digitizer
2 slide/negative scanners
2 VHS to DVD converters (from any tape format)

Information about the equipment

Audio Cassette Digitizer
This unit converts audio cassette tapes to a variety of digital formats. This is done in real time -- 30 minutes of audio will take 30 minutes to capture. The digital files are stored directly onto a USB drive. While monitoring the audio with headphones during the session, family history work can be completed on a computer.

Reel-to-Reel Audio Digitizer
This unit converts old reel-to-reel audio tapes to an MP3 digital file. This is done in real time -- 30 minutes of audio will take 30 minutes to capture. The digital files are stored directly onto a USB drive. While monitoring the audio with headphones during the session, family history work can be completed on a computer. We book these appointments for four hours. However, you are not required to use the entire time.

Video Tape Conversion Stations

Equipment is provided to capture, in real-time, video from VHS, Compact VHS (VHS-C), 8mm, Hi8, 8mm movies, and MiniDV cassette tapes. The captured video files will be in MP4 format and will be transferred to the guest's personal USB drive to take home. A two-hour video will need about 4G of USB storage. Guests can bring their own video camera and cables for maximum compatibility.

Other video tape formats can also be captured with the guest's video camera/player and the cables to connect to a TV set (yellow, red, and white RCA cables or S-Video cable).
