1871-1873: Mizra Hosein Khan Sepahsalar instigated reforms that led to census style data collection.
​ 1930-1940: Full census attempted and abandoned after Anglo-Soviet Invasion
​ 1956: First complete, national census.

  • Names and ages of every man, woman, and child in their villages
  • List of the dead and the newborn each year

​ 1956-2016: Most of the data contains:

  • district and province
  • population size
  • number of households
  • mean household size
  • approximate number of migrant tribe population
