In previous years, they were only nine-digits. <br>530225 – 1315<br>The first 6 digits are the modern style of a birth date. 53-02-25 would transfer to 1953-Feb-25. The following four numbers are more complicated. The first three numbers are chosen at random from 001-999. Odd numbers are given to males, even numbers to females.<br>The final number is determined by a mathematical equation utilizing the previous numbers. However, the importance of this number is not necessary for further explanation. Essentially, this system allows for a guarantee that no one would be given the same number, allowing for everyone to have a unique personal identification number.<br>The only thing which can be determined from someone’s number, should it be learned, is their birth date and gender. Nothing regarding place of birth or residence can be determined.<br>Usage of this number is necessary for paying taxes, getting married, and having employment.
