==Introduction==
This Dictionary was created to help you when you find words in a record or a farm-book that you cannot find the meaning of in a Norwegian dictionary.
<br>

Throughout the rural area of Norway there are many dialects used.  There are also dialects used in the cities, but ''Bokmål'' (Book language) or ''Riksmål'' (Language of the realm) is a written Norwegianised variety of Danish<ref>Wikipedia. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_language Norwegian language]. Accessed 25 October 2023.</ref> which is used in all of the cities, and ''Nynorsk'' (New Norwegian) is the written language<ref>Wikipedia. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nynorsk Nynorsk]. Accessed 25 October 2023.</ref> used in all the rural areas of Norway.  In this dialect dictionary you will notice that at times a word in Dialect, Bokmål and Nynorsk is similar, but at other times the word is totally different.  This dictionary should help you with many of these words that are not listed in a regular Norwegian Dictionary.
