Organized at Owensboro, Ky., July to November, 1861, and mustered in at Nashville, Tenn., March 5, 1862. Mustered out July 10, 1865. | The 26th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry was organized at Calhoon [sic.], Kentucky, under Col. S. B. Burbridge, in the fall of 1861, and was mustered into the United States service March, 1862, at Nashville, Tennessee. The regiment participated in the battle of Shiloh, April 7th, 1862, sustaining heavy loss in killed and wounded. On April 1, 1864, the 33rd was consolidated with the 26th Kentucky Infantry by Special Order No. 107 of the War Department. <ref>Kentucky.
