Memory Lane - The Family Memories Preservation Center

A resource center for converting audio and visual memories into digital format. The center is a comfortable space filled with up-to-date tools for the public to preserve and update formats of family memories and artifacts. The area stations provide preservation equipment for photos of all kinds and sizes, slides, videos, old family super 8 movies, audio tapes, reel to reel tapes, scrapbooks and more. There is no charge to use the Memory Lane preservation center.

Scan Photos

Bring your photos to scan into digital format. Whether you need a fast photo scanner or large flat bed scanner the FSL can accommodate your needs.
Tips

  • Turn the photos the same direction.
  • Remove all the dust and sticky debris.
  • Clean the photos.
  • Organize your photos before arriving to maximize scanning time.
  • Sort by size for the fast scanner.
  • Bring a flash drive for capture. 32 to 128 GB is recommended.

Scan Slides and Negatives

Bring your slides and negatives to scan into a digital format.
Tips for slides

  • Clean the slides of all dust and debris.
  • Rotate all slides to landscape orientation.
  • Damaged slides can be captured using a flatbed scanner.
  • Thick plastic should be captured using a flatbed scanner.
  • Sort slides by 35mm and by 126mm.
  • Kodak carrousel will work on the equipment.


Tips for negatives

  • Sort negatives with the shinny side forward.
