The Family History Centers provide an important service to the general public, allowing them access to their vast library of microfilmed civil records, ecclesiastic records, and many other documents of genealogical value. These centers are staffed with voluntary teams and there is no charge for the use of their facilities, except for some nominal fees for photocopies, pedigree charts, film rentals, etc.
