Purpose[edit | edit source]
The purpose is to fix old FamilySearch Catalog urls found in the Wiki. The redirects work, but we need to change the link to a FS template.
Contact[edit | edit source]
Task List[edit | edit source]
Instructions[edit | edit source]
1. Go to the Task List and put your name beside a Wiki page.
2. You will be fixing every other line on the spreadsheet (the ones with the links to Wiki pages)
3. Copy the following wikitext.
{{FHL|TITLE NUMBER|item|disp=CALLNUMBER}}
4. Click on the link to the Wiki page and click on "Edit source."
5. Review the Wiki page by doing "Control + F" to search the Wiki page for "show?" to find the URL to fix.
6. Paste the template you copied and paste it just before the square bracket of the URL.
7. Copy the title ID found at the end of the URL.
8. Convert the link to the FHL template by pasting the title ID you just copied from the URL over the words: TITLE NUMBER:
{{FHL|646843|item|disp=CALLNUMBER}}
9. Information after disp= should be the call number information (whether a book or film/fiche). We won’t be standardizing the source, just making sure the link will work. Thus, copy the call number information from the URL link and paste it over CALLNUMBER.
Example:
10. The link should now look like this:
{{FHL|646843|item|disp=FHL US/CAN Fiche #6083550}}
11. Delete the old URL link which includes the square brackets.
12. Go down to the bottom of the page and click on "Show preview" and review the link to make sure it the link works.
13. Copy the following wikitext and paste it in the summary field and click "Save changes"
