Contact Information[edit | edit source]Address: Queen Street, Masterton Twitter: https://twitter.com/WaiArchive Description of Collections[edit | edit source]The Wairarapa Archive holds the Masterton District Library’s heritage collection, and is dedicated to collecting and preserving Wairarapa’s unique heritage and sharing it with the community. The collection of archives and manuscripts contains the records of many important local institutions, as well many personal papers and records. The Archive also cares for the records of the Masterton District Council and its predecessors, from the 1860s until 1989. Serving past, current and future generations of Wairarapa residents and mana whenua, the Archive preserves their stories, images, sounds and voices, and engages people with their heritage and taonga. The Archive contributes as part of the wider cultural and heritage sectors, in partnership with other agencies and with iwi Māori.
