Guide to locating military records for ancestry, family history, and genealogy research.

Military records identify millions of individuals who served in the military or who were eligible for service. You may find evidence that an ancestor served in the military in family traditions, military records, naturalization records, biographies, cemetery records, and records of veterans' organizations. More recent military records usually have more information than older records.

FamilySearch Catalog[edit | edit source]

Census Records collected by FamilySearch, usually digitized and online, are listed in the FamilySearch catalog. Enter the name of the country in the "Place Field" and click "Search". A list of record categories will be provided. Select "Census".
