The Ogden FamilySearch Center Offers Many
Scanning Opportunities
We are excited to help you preserve your family documents and pictures. The following tips will help make your experience successful: Make an appointment prior to coming. We appreciate you being on time.
- Appointment times are for 1 ½ hour.
- Bring a 16 GB (or greater) USB or your DVD(s) with you.
- A missionary will greet you in the scanning area and assist you in getting started.
- Read through the different scanning equipment options below.
- Make your reservation by clicking on the “Click here to Reserve…”
Review the copyright guidelines below.
FamilySearch has designated scanning and digitizing opportunities at our Center in order to preserve personal family histories. While using the scanning equipment, we ask that only family-owned documents, photos, videos, and movies be scanned, digitized or converted. Please do not scan, digitize or copy any material with commercial content or copyrighted material. Please review the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ policies on copyright.
- “Copyright is protection given by law to the creators of original works of authorship that are expressed in a tangible form, including:
Literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works.
Works of art, photography, and sculpture.
Audio and audiovisual works (such as movies and videos, CDs, and DVDs).
Computer programs or games.
Internet and other databases.
Church members should strictly observe all copyright laws. Generally, only copyright owners may authorize duplication (copying), distribution, public performance, public display, or derivatives of their work. Using a work in any of these ways without authorization from the copyright owner is contrary to Church policy and may also subject the Church or the user to legal liability.” (General Handbook, 38.8.13)
We recommend that large volumes and compilations should be donated to the FamilySearch Digital Library. See the instructions on this webpage for Donating to the FamilySearch Digital Library for more help.
