History[edit | edit source]

Shelley is an important town on the Oregon Short Line railroad, situated in the mist of a level, fertile farming district, bordering on the Snake River. It is situated on the left bank of Snake River, nine miles southwest of Idaho Falls, and 17 miles northeast of Blackfoot. The town has had a rapid growth and is the business center of considerable upland.The total population of Shelly Precinct is 2,182 in 1930.
