Historical Background[edit | edit source]

The first censuses of Canada for Alberta, taken in 1891 and 1901, included Alberta the Northwest Territories. Censuses were taken every 10 years after that.
Agricultural censuses of the Prairie Provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) have been taken every ten years since 1906.
