Purpose[edit | edit source]

The purpose of this project is to designate the correct archive for each judicial district in the Czech Republic to make it easier for researchers to know which archive to use when researching.

Instruction[edit | edit source]

Step 1: Access the Scanned Gazetteer Pages[edit | edit source]

Choose the Bohemian Gazetteer or the Moravian Gazetteer. You will need to download them for this project, due to the large size of each file.

Step 2: Select the page or pages you want to work on[edit | edit source]

  • Using the task list, choose the page you want to work on. Make sure you select the tab for the Gazetteer you chose. Put your name in the name column. This way we know who's working on what page and people won't do the same work.

Step 3: Go to the page you selected in the gazetter[edit | edit source]

  • Open the gazetteer you downloaded and scroll to the page you are working on.
  • You will have four columns for each page: 1. Locality, 2.

===Step 4: Search for each locality in the gazetteer spreadsheet and add the correct

  • Find every mention of the judicial district in the gazetteer spreadsheet and add the archive in the correct column.
  • It's already sorted in alphabetical order by district name to make it easier. You will need to do this for every sheet labeled from a to z. Keep in mind there may be spelling variations between the map and the spreadsheet.
