Services Provided at the Ogden FamilySearch Center
At the Center, we have state-of-the-art computers with access to many premium genealogical and historical websites. We offer one-on-one assistance in accessing your FamilySearch family tree. If you have a question, ask us and we will help you research a name, add a source, merge a record, add a memory and find a family name to take to the temple.

Discovery Experiences Use the large interactive display screens to discover more about yourself as you visualize your family tree in unique ways. ALL ABOUT ME - What's so special about my birth year? Discover what was happening in the world the day you were born. WHERE I COME FROM - How in the world did I get here? View the geographical origins of your ancestors. PICTURE MY HERITAGE - How would I look in my ancestor's clothing? Superimpose a picture of you onto the cultural clothes of your ancestors. RECORD MY STORY - What are my favorite memories? Capture your memories in this state-of-the-art story studio. Group and individual booths are available. MY FAMOUS RELATIVES - Learn of the famous people you are related to. See if you are related to other Discovery Center visitors. To enhance your discovery experience we recommend doing the following: Bring your FamilySearch username and password when you come to the center. If you do not have an account, learn how to set one up by clicking on this link. Create a FamilySearch Account Be sure you have at least one connection to a deceased ancestor. Reservations for the Discovery Center are NOT required for individuals or groups smaller than 6 people. Schedule a Discovery Visit

Children's Area This center provides a comfortable work environment for parents. There is a play area for small children near computer work stations where parents can work on their family history without leaving their children unattended.

Children's Group Activity This activity is for Ages 8-11 with a maximum of 15 visitors per group. This activity is free. The class will introduce the children to family history, help them begin to complete their own history. Every child will receive a My Family Booklet to learn about the importance of preserving memories. Each child will record a memory in our recording room which can be shared through email with each child. The class will last approximately 1 hour. Requirements: We ask that there be one adult for every 3 children and that the adults stay with the group the entire time. Schedule a Children's Group Activity

The Large Classroom: Group Reservations We have two classrooms available for group instruction. This room has 36 computers. When you schedule a classroom, please indicate if you have your own instructor. If you require an instructor, we would be happy to offer a class that is a basic overview of FamilySearch. Please indicate on the schedule that you would like to have that class presented. The Large Classroom can accommodate 36 students. If you anticipate more than 36 guests in your group, please schedule both classrooms. To cancel a scheduled class, go back to your confirmation e-mail and follow the link to cancel. The Small Classroom: Group Reservations We have two classrooms available for group instruction. This room has 24 computers. When you schedule a classroom, please indicate if you have your own instructor. If you require an instructor, we would be happy to offer a class that is a basic overview of FamilySearch. Please indicate on the schedule that you would like to have that class presented. The Small Classroom can accommodate 24 students. Scanning/Conversion Services The Center has the following equipment available for preserving documents, family histories and family photos. Please bring your own USB thumb drive. If using the VHS to DVD recorder, please bring your own DVD(s). You may schedule equipment for a one-hour session. Because the scanners are in such high demand, we encourage you to be on time. If you are 15 minutes late, it's possible you may have to reschedule. Flatbed Scanner Large and Small Versions: This is an excellent scanner for books, documents, and items with thick bindings. It scans individual and multiple pictures from a single page. Batch Picture Scanner PS80: This scanner uses a feed tray which allows items to be scanned much faster than on the flatbed. Slide Scanner: This scanner automatically scans 35mm slides from a standard slide carousel. Lexmark Color Copier/Printer/Scanner: This copier/scanner converts multiple page documents into a single .pdf file. This is ideal for preserving and sharing typewritten family histories. VHS or DVD to MP4 recorder: This recorder converts a non copyrighted VHS to DVD or MP4. For every two hours of recording you will need one DVD. Please bring plenty of DVD's. Bring a USB thumb drive to record and save your MP4 files. Super 8 Film Converter: This device converts the Super 8 Reel to a USB thumb drive. High 8 Tape Converter: This device converts the High 8 cassette tape to a USB thumb drive. Audio Cassette Tape Converter: This device converts a non copyrighted audio cassette tape to a USB thumb drive. Schedule Scanning/Conversion Equipment

Patrons' Class Schedule The Ogden FamilySearch Center offers classroom instruction on many family history/genealogical topics. The instructors are dedicated and knowledgeable professionals. Each has many years of experience in family history work. We are excited about the quality of instruction that you will receive.
