  • Penco was founded in 1843 and on October 5, 1550 the city of Concepción was established in this commune.
  • Penco corresponded to the 12th subdelegation of the Department of Coelemu for a few decades, and then joined the Department of Concepción. In 1891 the law that created the Municipality of Penco was enacted.
  • The current population of the commune of Penco is around 45,000 people[1].
