Introduction[edit | edit source]

Civil registration (the government recording of births, marriages, and deaths) began in 1842 on Jersey. Most of these records are available for public use. Some records are available online, but the majority of records are available at the Office of the Superintendent Registrar.

How to Access the Records[edit | edit source]

For civil registration (after 1842):

Office Hours 9.00-12.30 p.m.

These records can be viewed for free in person. An application can also be submitted online for the research to be carried out by them. Research costs £30 an hour and the certificate costs £30.

Copies and indexes of civil these records are available at the Société Jersiaise and Jersey Archive.
