Purpose[edit | edit source]
To enrich the parish pages for Sweden by locating pictures of the parish churches.
A researcher may go to a Swedish parish page looking for websites, place names, jurisdictional information, or databases, but these tools alone are simply text on a page. The purpose of adding pictures to the parish pages is to enrich the research experience by giving a visual glimpse of the ancestor’s life. Its fun and exciting to see a place where you know the ancestor visited often.
Task List[edit | edit source]
The Task List for this project will be added to the Google Sheet below:

Instructions[edit | edit source]
Step 1 - Upload Images to the Wiki[edit | edit source]
1. Download the image from the link for your respective image from the Google sheet.
- Click on the link from the Google Sheet, right-click on the church image, and click Save As. Save the file to your computer somewhere you will be able to locate it, such as the Desktop or your Downloads folder.
2. To upload the file into the FamilySearch Wiki, click Upload file (found under Tools on the left-hand side).
3. Click Choose file under the Source section of the page.
4. Select the church image file you downloaded to your computer, and continue uploading it into the Wiki.
- NOTE: If you plan on downloading/uploading multiple images in one sitting, make sure to keep track of the images you have already uploaded so we can avoid duplicating or misplacing images.
5. In the Destination filename field, title the image "PARISH NAME church.jpg" or .png, or whatever extension is created at the time of the upload.
- Example: "Lungsund church.jpg" belongs to the Lungsund Parish, Värmland, Sweden Genealogy page on the FS Wiki.
6. Copy the following code and Paste it in the Summary section of the page:
{{Information | Description = | Source = | Date = | Author = | Permission = }} [[Category:Sweden Church Images]]
7. Enter the information for the respective fields above as it appears on the WikiCommons page for the image.
- NOTE: Leave the Permission field blank.
8. Click on the Licensing dropdown, and select the licensing that best matches the Licensing from WikiCommons.
