Brief Timeline[edit | edit source]
1540: First contact with Coronado, used Isleta pueblo as a base and the Isleta served as interpreters and guides
1540's: Spanish Missionaries
1650: The Isleta with other tribes joined the Apache to force out the Spanish, this became known as the Pueblo War
1681: The village burned to the ground by the Spanish; some taken prisoner, some lived with the Hopi
1717: Tribe returned to rebuild the village
1862: War with the Navajo
1846: The Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago, New Mexico becomes part of the United States
