The Bulgarian archival system was first established in the twentieth century. The Cyril and Methodius National Library dates from an earlier period. Some Bulgarian records for the Ottoman period may be located in Turkey and Greece.
There are some genealogical collections in the Central Historical Archive. Also, compiled genealogies exist in some community libraries (reading halls).[1]
