The Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Department of Justice) has a website where the indexes can be searched at no cost. The online Historical Index of BMD's, Victoria State Justice and Registratuion contains:
- Births in Victoria from 1853 to 1914
- Marriages in Victoria from 1853 to 1942
- Deaths in Victoria from 1853 to 1985
- Church baptisms, marriages and burials in Victoria from 1836 to 1853.
