Step 1[edit | edit source]

1. Go to the Task List and sign out a group of states.

2. Go to the Information heading of the state page. Using what is already under the section, add any of the following that are not already there.

  • Part of the US it is in (northeast, northwest southeast, southwest, midwest)
  • How many counties it has (ask google "how many counties state name" and it will tell you the number of counties.
  • Year it was created a state (ask google "what year did state name became a state")
  • Number of state it is being admitted to US (can be found at Wikipedia)
  • What state or territory it was created from. (can be found at Wikipedia)
  • State capital (ask google "what is the capital of state name")

Example: Alabama became the twenty-second state to be admitted to the United States on December 14, 1819.[1] Before it came into the Union it was in the Alabama Territory. Alabama is located in the southeast region of the United States. The capital of Alabama is Montgomery. Alabama is divided into 67 counties.

Step 2 Add A Reference[edit | edit source]

1. It's important to always give a reference to where we obtained the information we add to the wiki. To add the reference, first copy the following wiki text:

<ref>Wikipedia contributors, "List of US States by Date of Admission," in ''Wikipedia: the Free Encyclopedia'', https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_date_of_admission_to_the_Union, accessed DATE.</ref>

3. Replace DATE with the date you accessed the page and then enter the reference behind the sentence you got from Wikipedia.

4. Add the reference to the page behind the sentence you got from Wikipedia.
