What is the Inside Passage?[edit | edit source]
The inside passage is a land-protected coastal route starting in the Alaskan panhandle and running south through portions of British Columbia and along Washington state's coastline. There are over 30,000 miles of coastline, over a thousand islands and thousands of coves and bays containing some of the most scenic views in the world.
Because of its land-protected status, it would have offered a significant migration route between all of the land masses. Ferry boats, kayaks and cruise ships regularly travel the route now. Records are scanty but indigenous people lived all along the route enjoying plentiful food, water and wood.
