Brief Timeline

1772: Spaniard Pedro Fages and his soldiers made first contact

1833: Malaria epidemic, 75 percent of tribe killed

1834: Catholic missions - free the Yokuts to return to their homelands

1849: Gold rush prospectors kill may Yokust Indians

1851: Treaty cede land for a reservation - unratified
