One of America's best genealogical collections. Especially strong for Texas and adjoining states.[2] USA and state materials, Texas and Houston area death records including funeral home records, censuses, passenger arrival lists, manuscripts, International resources for Europe, Canada, and Mexico, military records, family histories, periodicals, maps, family history vertical files, and Family History Library Affiliate Program.

Tips[edit | edit source]

  • Bring a sweater because it is often chilly.
  • Free parking is available for users of the library.
  • Lockers are available for a quarter which will be returned when you return the key.
  • A snack area is available with vending machines and tables.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available and you are welcome to bring in your laptop and connect to the Internet.
  • Public computers are available with a Houston Public Library PowerCard, or computer use card.[1]
