  • 2nd Regiment, Missouri Cavalry - Confederate
    Mustered in: 2nd Cavalry Regiment was organized at Springfield, Missouri, during the late fall of 1861 as a battalion.
    Mustered out: Many were captured at Selma and few surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.

Regiments 3rd and 4th[edit | edit source]

  • 3rd Battalion, Missouri Cavalry - Confederate
    Mustered in: unit was formed early in 1862. Combined with another regiment: assigned to General Buford's Brigade in the Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. Combined with another unit: 1863 consolidated with the 1st Missouri Cavalry Regiment.
    Mustered out: Few surrendered in May, 1865.

Regiments 5th through 7th[edit | edit source]

  • 6th Regiment, Missouri Cavalry - Confederate
    Also called Southwest Cavalry. Mustered in the late spring of 1862. Members from the counties of Barry, Newton, McDonald, Jasper, and Lawrence. Assigned to General Shelby's Brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department. During the winter of 1863-1864 new men joined the command, and it was redesignated the 11th Missouri Cavalry.

  • Freeman's Regiment, Missouri Cavalry - Confederate
    Organized in January, 1864.
    Continued to fight in Missouri during 1865 and disbanded in the spring. The field officers were Colonel Thomas R. Freeman, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph B. Love, and Major M.V. Shaver.

Regiments Hi through L[edit | edit source]

  • Jackman's Regiment, Missouri Cavalry - Confederate
    Organized during the late spring of 1864.
    Ended the war in Texas and disbanded before the surrender in June, 1865. The field officers were Colonel Sidney D. Jackman, Lieutenant Colonel C.H. Nichols, and Major G.W. Newton.

  • Wood's Regiment, Missouri Cavalry - Confederate
    Organized during the spring of 1864 with six companies, later increased to eight.
    Included in the surrender of the Trans-Mississippi Department but probably disbanded in mid-May, 1865. Major Robert C. Wood, commander.
