HOYLAND, UPPER and LOWER, [also known as Nether H.] a chapelry, in the parish of Wath-upon-Dearne, N. division of the wapentake of Strafforth and Tickhill, W. riding of York, 5 miles (S. S. E.) from Barnsley; containing 2597 inhabitants. There are places of worship for Independents and Wesleyans. [1]
