Utah was created from the Territory of Utah in 1896. Before 1898, no births were recorded by the county or state. You must search substitute records to locate your ancestor’s birth date and place.

Births from 1898 thru 1912[edit | edit source]

In 1896, Utah was created from the Territory of Utah.

  • 1898 - Utah law required counties to record births
  • From 1898-1879, 15% of the births were recorded
  • From 1880-1920, 65% of the births were recorded
  • 1905 - Utah Statewide registration began
