Deaths from 1844 thru 50 years from present year[edit | edit source]

Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) houses death records from 1844 through the present year. Anyone can obtain a death certificate for a person deceased at least 50 years.

To obtain a free copy of death record go to Arizona Genealogy Birth and Death Certificates

If you cannot locate your ancestor in the database try searching for death information in other records containing death infromation.

50 years ago to present year (certified certificate)[edit | edit source]

Arizona is a "closed record" state. That means that vital records are not public record. Arizona law restricts the public's access to vital records to protect the confidentiality rights of its citizens.

A person must be 18 years of age or older may obtain a certified copy of a death certificate.

The following persons can obtain a certified death certificate from the past 50 years. For additional explanations of these parties go to Arizona Department of Health Services
