The companies for this Battalion were formerly from the1st Mobile Regiement (Local Defense). They were detached to form 1st Battalion, Alabama Cadets April 4, 1864[1].
The official name for the Pelham Cadets was the Alabama 1st Battalion Cadets.[2]
